Please add instructions on how to migrate to a new server

Post by normancates »

Specifically in my case, I am just having to do a migration to a new OS, and new cPanel.

The IP address of the server will eventually be the same.

Ideally, no systems should even notice.

I would like to preserve my settings and IP block / whitelist tables.

I expect it may be a copy of a number of files. But I don't know which ones are particularly important or even should not be copied over.

Also, what warnings about doing this may be relevant. And what needs to be checked afterwards.

Hey Norman,

I'm trying to do a similar task. What I need is to transfer (backup/restore) the ConfigServer Security & Firewall settings from an existent server to a new one.
The new one's going to use a new IP, obviously, but all other settings, whitelists, blocked IPs, etc. I want to import in this new server.

I hope somebody can help us with that.

Regards,
Damon H.

Hey,

I've copied all the files in /etc/csf from the 'old server' to the new one (just the files, not the directories nor the symbolic links) and restarted csf an lfd.
It looks like everything's ok.

List of file copied:

Code: Select all

/etc/csf/cpanel.allow
/etc/csf/cpanel.comodo.allow
/etc/csf/cpanel.comodo.ignore
/etc/csf/cpanel.ignore
/etc/csf/csf.allow
/etc/csf/csf.blocklists
/etc/csf/csf.blocklists.new
/etc/csf/csf.cloudflare
/etc/csf/csf.conf
/etc/csf/csf.deny
/etc/csf/csf.dirwatch
/etc/csf/csf.dyndns
/etc/csf/csf.fignore
/etc/csf/csf.ignore
/etc/csf/csf.logfiles
/etc/csf/csf.logignore
/etc/csf/csf.mignore
/etc/csf/csf.pignore
/etc/csf/csf.rblconf
/etc/csf/csf.redirect
/etc/csf/csf.resellers
/etc/csf/csf.rignore
/etc/csf/csf.signore
/etc/csf/csf.sips
/etc/csf/csf.smtpauth
/etc/csf/csf.suignore
/etc/csf/csf.syslogs
/etc/csf/csf.syslogusers
/etc/csf/csf.uidignore
/etc/csf/downloadservers
Please tell me if this is wrong!

Do you have CXS installed or MailScanner?
