MailScanner not installed but is still there and blocking emails.

I think I may have tinkered with mailscanner a year or two ago but never went ahead with it. Now, for ome reason all emails on my server are stuck in the mail queue with the error form cpanel mail manager:

I have uninstalled or deleted all instances of mailman and restarted the server but mails are still stuck.

I restored a back up of the server and everything went back to normal but the next day the problem returned. That has happened twice now.

Did you uninstall MailScanner and MSFE following the instructions in this article?
