Low scoring spam not being deleted

Post by gschaefer »

i have the latest version of of MS and MSFE running under Centos and they are working fine except for this issue.

I have set the default low scoring spam action to delete for all domains on my server and the the low score value to 5 however low scoring spam is still being delivered despite being scored above 5 which is the limit i set. i have carefully checked all my settings for low scoring spam actions and they are set correctly to delete for all domains both in WHM/Mailscanner config and via cpanel plugin for each domain on my server.

MSFE is capturing them as spam and colour coding them nicely as low and high and normal etc but just not deleting the low scoring spam emails.

How to fix this?

When you say low scoring spam is still being delivered, are you relying for this information on the action shown in MailWatch? If so, it is often incorrect. You need to check the exim log and/or the actual recipient mailbox to determine whether the emails are actually being delivered.

You may also want to check this knowledgebase article if you have not already done so:

If the low scoring spam emails *are* actually being delivered, please submit a ticket on the helpdesk and we'll try to help.

Yes Sarah they are actually being delivered. I checked the mailbox of the account before I posted this. I will create a ticket for this issue,

I found the culprit. It was my blackhole settings for those domains. I had them set to discard not fail. Once i read your excellent article here I changed them and voila the low scoring spams are not being delivered!
