Default blocking squirrelmail

I seem to be getting an error with squirrelmail which appears to be related to CSF.

(separate sqmail install from cpanel)

I get Connection refused
Server replied: 111 Can't open SMTP stream.

The error goes away if I shutdown CSF.
Any ideas?

If you have it configured to set out using direct SMTP then you will have to disable SMTP_BLOCK in the csf configuration and then restart the firewall. A better solution would be to configure squirrelmail to use the sendmail binary instead as that is what it ought to use.

I have the same problem with nutsmail. I tested by disabling SMTP_BLOCK, but it is not a good idea. I dont understand how to change (in this case) nutsmail to use sendmail binary instead. I checked the config of the original squirrel mail (which had no problems with as above, but could not find a ref to binary)

Any pointers please

Does the webmail installation run under a specific UID?

Nutsmail reply

"I'm not really sure, i installed as root, but I believe it would run under the user from whichever domain it's being accessed from, I could be wrong though."

Does that help you chirpy?

thanks
Peter

In desperation I have disabled SMTP_BLOCK.

I only host my own web clients and no strangers, so hopefully there will be no serious repercussions
